StoryForce is a mod for Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy multiplayer. You need a working copy of the base Jedi Academy game use StoryForce.

You also need OpenJK. Download OpenJK from the OpenJK builds page and put all files in your GameData folder inside your Jedi Academy installation.

What it does

The client download gives you the StoryForce game code, the art and sound it needs, and launcher scripts that start Jedi Academy with the mod already loaded.

Installing

  1. Download the client build for your platform from the StoryForce releases. Pick the file named StoryForce - Client, not the server one.
  2. Extract it into your GameData folder. You should end up with GameData/StoryForce/ containing the mod files.
  3. Start the game with the launcher for your platform, following Windows or macOS and Linux.

Windows

Run PlayStoryForce.bat from inside the StoryForce folder.

macOS and Linux

Make the launcher executable. You only need to do this once:

chmod +x PlayStoryForce.sh

Then run it:

./PlayStoryForce.sh

The launcher looks for an OpenJK client then starts the game with StoryForce loaded.

Loading the mod without the launcher

If you would rather use your own shortcut, add the mod to your OpenJK command line:

+set fs_game StoryForce

You can also load it from inside the game. Open the Mods menu, select StoryForce, and load it. The game restarts with the mod loaded.

Where your files (e.g screenshots) are saved

The launcher points the game's write path at the same GameData folder it found. Your saved login details, screenshots and local data all land there, so everything stays inside your game directory.

Things to note

  • StoryForce servers need the mod. Connecting with plain Jedi Academy will not work.
  • Do not rename the folder. The launcher and the server both expect it to be called StoryForce.
  • The client and server downloads are different. Both carry the same art pack, but only the client zip has the interface code and the launchers you need to play. See what ships in each download.
