About
StoryForce is a modification for Star Wars: Jedi Academy focused on character-driven, narrative roleplay.
Whilst an LLM (AI) wrote the code, the heart of StoryForce comes from hundreds of stories, told over a thousand hours of Jedi Academy with friends from around the world.
AI Transparency
StoryForce was built using LLMs (AI), the build process is outlined below, but in simple terms without LLMs this project would not exist.
Not all systems and features of StoryForce have been verified or reviewed by someone with the knowledge to do so. A full breakdown can be found below.
Therefore due to AI usage, although extensively tested, StoryForce could be unstable and prone to unexpected bugs or crashes.
Other developer led roleplay mods are available, and I encourage people to consider them when picking their roleplay mod, Galaxy RP and Lugormod.
Aside from some elements initially ported from OJP and an OpenJK foundation, no other JKA mods were provided as named references by the director 'Iffo', during development.
However, it is not possible to verify which mods or other community projects may have been included in the training of the LLMs used.
It is possible, bordering likely, that existing mods and projects influenced the output of the LLM. Therefore it is not possible to rule out that elements of other mods' code was used in the creation of StoryForce.
As a result the credits below may not capture every influence on the project.
Decision to release
The following factors were taken into consideration when deciding to release.
- Commitment to disclosing AI usage and actively sign-posting to possible alternatives for roleplay.
- It enables a creative medium (roleplay).
- JKA is over 23 years old and a legacy product.
AI status labels
Documentation pages detail how well their features are understood and how thoroughly they have been tested.
The target is all features to be at least reviewed, with core systems like Accounts, Force Powers, Basic Entity Management and Server Hosting to be verified.
Last updated: 11/09/26
| Label | Meaning | Current Status | Target |
|---|---|---|---|
| Verified | Feature implementation has been verified by someone with the experience to do so. | 24 | 41 |
| Reviewed | Good understanding of feature implementation, but not verified. | 111 | 130 |
| Tested | Little understanding of feature implementation, but fully tested. | 27 | 0 |
| Needs Testing | Little understanding of the feature implementation and little testing. | 9 | 0 |

Acknowledgements
- The Storytellers
- Thank you to every person I've ever spent an evening discussing plot lines with, dissecting character arcs and debating the best way to tell a story. You are what made me fall in love with JKA roleplay and telling stories.
- The Mods (and their creators): JA+, Lugormod, Forcemod III, Pugmod, jaMME, RPMod and Galaxy RP.
- The mods that I've spent too many hours of my life on. You undoubtedly served to inspire what is possible within Jedi Academy.
- The Clans: I've been a part of the last two decades clans and the countless people within them. You're what always brought me back to JKA.
- The Techichis

Build process
Timeline
The earliest 'form' of StoryForce started in February 2024 as a learning project playing about with OpenJK, OJP, GalaxyRP and OpenRP.
In July 2025, the first iteration of an actual roleplaying mod was attempted using LLMs and existing open source code. Lack of planning, no consideration of the mods architecture and blind shoe-horning of different systems led to a situation where the project became unusable, unmaintainable and arguably unethical.
In March 2026, after training, encouragement and a desire to learn through a practical project, StoryForce in its current form was started.
Approach
Although the project began in March 2026, no code was written until late April.
The entire StoryForce mod was designed in Obsidian. Features were fully mapped, command structures designed and AI skills guides written. Claude Code was used to explore the game codebase and sense-check possibilities.
The build started in April 2026. Significant time was spent maintaining the various files that steered the build (CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md, and README.md) as the project grew to ensure continuity and stability.
Features were built one at a time and methodically tested before being committed. Codex was also used to support the development of major systems, while Cursor served as the harness for agentic code generation.
Where time permits, core systems were reviewed and continue to be reviewed by a developer.
In July 2026 additional team members joined to help with testing and idea generation. Their input enhanced StoryForce's functionality and led to redesign and implementation of elements to maximise usability and storytelling capabilities.
The first public version 0.9 is targeting launch in 2026.
About the 'Director'
I'm Iffo and I've been playing Star Wars Jedi Academy since December 2003.
I don't get as much time to play games as I once did, but Jedi Academy has always served as perfect foil for learning and experimenting.
Whether it was learning Photoshop at the age of 13 for my first skin, learning to map and model to aid with my uni course or learning how to write and tell stories through roleplay, it only seemed logical in a world where a professional pressure to adopt AI only increases that I returned to Jedi Academy to explore how to use it.
With StoryForce, I hope you are able to build the worlds you envision, tell the stories you want with the people you wish to experience them with, and challenge the limits of roleplay within this wonderful, wonderful game.
