Buying Force powers
Buy Force power ranks with /character fp, or from the FORCE POWERS screen in the menu.
You need to be logged in with one of your own characters selected. Community characters cannot buy anything.
What it does
/character fp does 2 jobs. With no arguments it prints your whole build, your level and your XP
position. With a power name and a level, it buys.
Your character records the highest rank you have ever paid for in each power. That record is the ceiling, and it is what the XP budget charges you for. Anything at or below the ceiling is free to move around as often as you like.
Buying from the menu
- Press ESC to open the menu bar.
- Select Character, then Current.
- Select FORCE POWERS.
- Select the pips beside a power to set its rank, then select APPLY.
Every pip is labelled with what that rank costs, and its brightness tells you where it stands. Ranks you have applied are bright. Ranks you have bought but not currently applied are half lit. Ranks you could buy right now are faint, and anything you cannot afford is dimmed almost out. The server checks every change again when it arrives, so nothing the menu lets you do can put you over budget.
Commands
Seeing your build
/char fp is an accepted short form. The spent figure counts your skills as well as your powers,
because both come from the same pool.
Raising a power
telekinesis, energy, valor, battlemed, block and sense are accepted aliases for grip,
lightning, rage, teamforce, drain and sight.
The level is not optional. Leaving it off prints the usage line and changes nothing. /character skill
also needs a level to buy, but answers a bare name with that skill's status instead of a usage line.
Lowering a power
Setting a power to a lower rank costs nothing and refunds nothing. Your spend does not move.
The status list then marks that power L0 (bought: L3, free to re-apply). Putting it back to 3 costs
nothing, now or in any later session.
Things to note
- Setting Saber Offense to 0 takes your lightsaber away immediately. If you were holding it, you drop to melee on the spot. Raise it again to get the saber back.
- The level argument is mandatory on both commands. Neither buys anything without one.
/character fp speedprints the usage line, and/character skill blastersprints that skill's rank and next-rank cost. - Lowering a power never returns XP. The ceiling is the price you paid, and it only ever goes up.
- The ceiling makes rebuilding free. Pay for Jump 3 once and you can sit at Jump 0 for a quiet scene. Putting it back before the next one costs nothing.
- Community characters refuse every purchase. The command answers
Cannot edit force powers on a community character. - Power names must be exact.
lightwill not findlightning.
