Change the HUD and crosshair
The HUD tab controls crosshair information, announcements, cinematic bars and icon animation. Console settings have their own tab.
In the menus: ESC → SETUP → HUD
Choose a HUD
HUD Style is the row everything else depends on, so set it first.
StoryForce ships your state as captioned words in the corners, such as Healthy and Ample.
Base Game is Raven's bars and icons, unchanged.
HUD Readout swaps those words for the raw figures.
Tick Stance Colours to colour the stance words on the StoryForce HUD. It ships off.
Fade the HUD
The StoryForce HUD fades elements away while nothing is happening and brings them back when something changes.
HUD Fades Out ships ticked. Unticking it pins every element at full brightness all the time.
Aim Reveal Rate sets how fast you must swing the view for the game to count it as aiming and wake the faded crosshair. It runs from 0 to 1500 degrees a second in steps of 50, and ships at 500. At 0, any view movement wakes it.
Both rows do nothing unless HUD Style is StoryForce.
Size the name above your crosshair
Crosshair Name Size scales the name drawn at a fixed place above your crosshair while you aim at a player, NPC or occupied vehicle. It runs from 0.5 to 2 and ships at 1.
The name stays fully visible through 400 units, then fades with distance until it reaches one tenth brightness at 1,500 units.
FYI Indicator decides how another character's FYI note shows. Asterisk ships selected and draws a * beside their name. Full Text draws the note underneath at three quarters of the name's size. Longer notes are shortened with an ellipsis. Crosshair Name Size scales both together.
Show the StoryForce indicators
Status Indicators ships ticked. It is one switch for every StoryForce chip, with no per-chip control. Each chip hides itself unless its state is live.
The row covers director mode, stunt position, trigger recording, director notes, language, comlink, FYI, translator, breather, intercept, Force marks and Force-field shielding.
Set announcements, bars and icon motion
Join Messages sends join and team-change announcements to Hidden, On Screen or Console. It ships on Console, keeping them out of the middle of the screen.
Letterbox puts cinematic black bars across the top and bottom of the screen. It ships off.
Force Icon Animation ships ticked and animates the centre icon when you change selected Force power. Untick it to remove that one-shot transition. The settled icon still appears.
Prefer the console?
Press ~ to open the console. These commands use the default values:
/cg_hudFiles 1

/sf_hudstancecolor 0
/sf_storyforcehud 1

Reposition the indicators on the base HUD
With Base Game selected and Status Indicators on, this creates a vertical stack:
/sf_storyforcehudstyle 1
/sf_storyforcehud_posx 20
/sf_storyforcehud_posy 450
Use /sf_storyforcehudstyle 0 for a horizontal row. Increase posx to move right or posy to move down.
