Learn the ESC menu
Everything StoryForce has to offer sits behind the ESC/top menu.
What the menu shows
- JOIN: log in or out, open your account screen, swap between playing and spectating
- Character: the character you are playing, the list of your other characters, and your personal tools
- Direct: the storyteller tools for running a scene, if you are a director
- Design: the tools for putting things into the world to dress a scene
- SETUP: settings, in a BASE GAME half and a STORYFORCE half
- CONTROLS: your key bindings.
- 'About': the server/communities's own page and a colour code guide.
- EXIT: leave the server or close the game
About is the only label that changes. Server admins can put their community name or acronym there instead.
3 of the bar's 8 buttons stay hidden until you are logged in to an account.
Panels that are not buttons
+ PHOTO MODE sits at the right hand end and expands into camera framing and clean screenshot controls.
+ FILM MODE sits under it, and only while you are spectating.
Both hide while another screen has focus or while you are logged out.
Scene information, when set by a director, prints the title and objectives down the left while the bar is up.
Text in a panel
Drag across text to select it, or press Ctrl+A. Use Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste.
On Mac, use Command+A, Command+C and Command+V. Menu fields also support Command+X to cut and Command+Z to undo.
Tab moves to the next supported text box. Shift+Tab moves back.
When a form warns about unsaved changes, save or discard the draft before closing it.
Leaving the server
ESC → EXIT → MAIN MENU.
ESC → EXIT → QUIT JEDI ACADEMY sits below it and closes the game outright.
Joining a sister server
A third row can sit between those 2: a Go to row where the server admin runs a second server and has linked them.
