Tune how play works on your server

What players on your server can do with their characters.

You set every value on this page in storyforce_server.cfg.

The configuration name under each table label is the name to find in that file. Default means the value in the shipped config.

Tune progression covers the level curve, stat caps and purchase costs stored in the database.

Decide what guests and former members can do

A guest has an account but no membership. A former member has an account whose membership has ended.

Each permission starts off (0). Change it to 1 to allow that activity for that group.

Set hitboxes, ammo and chat protection

Hitbox scale

Whether a player's collision box follows their model scale ships at 0, so a character scaled down to 60 is still as tall to shoot as a default one.

At 1 the box follows the model, standing and crouching alike.

Ammo

Whether firing a weapon consumes ammunition ships at 1. Set it to 0 and weapons never consume ammo.

Chat protection

Whether a player with their chat box open is safe from combat damage ships at 1, so a player who is typing takes no combat damage and cannot be cut down mid-sentence.

Allow gun skins and Look Around

Allows cosmetic gun skins. Ships at 1. Set it to 0 to disable skins and clear active player and NPC choices.

Allows players to turn their head and camera with Look Around. Ships at 1. Set it to 0 to disable the control.

Turn hex colour codes off

Whether the six-digit ^#RRGGBB colour form is allowed ships at 1.

A hex escape is eight bytes where a classic code is two, paid in every player name and every chat line.

A large roster is a reason to switch it off.

At 0, the server removes well-formed hex escapes from names, chat and other text it sends. Classic colour codes still work. Stored names keep their hex, so switching the setting back to 1 restores their colours. Colour pickers also continue to accept #RRGGBB values.

Choose how emotes are marked

The decoration the server puts around a /me emote and an inline action.

Set it to a pair of characters, such as || or :: or set it to a colour code ^7.

Where the other play settings live

These settings are grouped by what you want to change. Follow a guide link for the full explanation.
