Brand your server

Put your community's name, colour and information so a player sees them.

There is no in-game screen for this. You set it in storyforce_server.cfg.

Name and colour your server

CvarShippedWhat it is for
sf_clannameStoryForceThe display name, on the About page and the ESC bar button
sf_clanshortnamestoryforceAn internal match key a player's login.cfg uses, so one player can keep a different account per server
sf_clanacronym+++The short form the ESC bar button falls back to

The ESC bar's About button shows sf_clanname when that name is 6 visible characters or fewer. Otherwise it uses sf_clanacronym, then falls back to About when neither is usable. Colour codes do not count towards the six.

sf_accentcolor retints every element the client draws in the StoryForce orange, and ships at FF8000. It takes six hex digits with or without a leading #.

This is the server default. A player can override it with sf_useraccent, covered in Change your interface and HUD. Character-themed screens may use that character's POI colour instead.

Fill the About page

The page holds three headed blocks, each a title and a body, and all six ship empty:

set sf_claninfo1_title "Who we are"
set sf_claninfo1_text "A Jedi enclave on the edge of the Outer Rim./nEveryone is welcome to watch. Ask before you draw."
set sf_claninfo2_title ""
set sf_claninfo2_text ""
set sf_claninfo3_title ""
set sf_claninfo3_text ""

A block with neither a title nor a body is not sent at all and leaves no gap, so use one, two or three.

A title is cut at 63 characters and a body at 255.

Write the join welcome

sf_welcomeprint draws centre-screen for every player as they enter the world, and ships empty.

set sf_welcomeprint "Welcome to the enclave./nType /help if you are new here."
set sf_welcometime "10"
set sf_welcomedelay "3"
  • sf_welcomeprint is capped at 160 characters
  • sf_welcometime 0 turns off the whole centre-screen greeting, other values are clamped to between 10 and 30 seconds.
  • sf_welcomedelay is clamped to between 0 and 30 seconds

If you run a second server, the ESC → Exit menu can carry a Go to row. Pressing it asks for confirmation before connecting.

set sf_secondservername "The Outer Rim"
set sf_secondserverip "play.storyforce.example.com:29070"

Use a plain hostname or IPv4 address and optional port.

Things to note

  • Colour codes belong in sf_clanname and the About text, where they draw. They do not belong in sf_clanshortname, which is a match key.
