Set the scene lighting

This turns the light the map was built with up or down for everybody at once.

You need director mode.

Placing your own lights is light a scene.

In the menus: ESC → Direct → Scene → LIGHTING

Brighten, dim or tint the map

Select PREVIEW IN WORLD.

You land in the shared placement mode with 5 dials: Level, Red, Green, Blue and Floor.

Level, Red, Green and Blue run from 0 to 200% in steps of 5.

Check the colour values each time you reopen the preview, especially if you brightened them above 100%.

At 100%, the map uses the light it was built with. Above 100% it brightens. Floor stays between 0 and 100%.

The preview changes only your screen while you turn the dials. Press MOUSE1 to apply the look to everyone, or MOUSE2 to cancel and restore the current shared look.

Keep a chosen area lit or give it different lighting with a light zone.

Keep your cast visible

Floor is the light a character keeps however dark the room gets, so take the map to 0% with the floor still at 0 and the players go as black as the walls.

Put the map back

RESET sends the map back to the lighting it was compiled with, for everyone, and it deletes every light zone as well.

The shared look and its light zones are saved with the scene.

Loading a scene replaces both. A scene with no saved lighting restores full map lighting and clears the old zones.

Prefer the console?

  • /scenelight 20 takes the map to a fifth of its built brightness,
  • /scenelight floor 40 keeps your cast readable in it
  • /scenelight fade 20 6 walks it down over 6 seconds instead of cutting.

The fade form works with a dim, RGB tint, floor value or off. It accepts up to 3,600 seconds, including decimals.

Joining players receive the current fade progress. Light zones change instantly.

Brightening multiplies the light baked into the map. A surface baked completely black stays black.
