Restrain and release a player
Use handcuffs or a blindfold on yourself or another player.
Restraining another player needs community admin when nobody is directing, or director mode while anyone is directing.
In the menus: ESC → Direct → Tools → Online and Origin
Restraining the selected player
- Select the player's row in the roster.
- Press HANDCUFF to bind their hands, or BLINDFOLD to cover their view.
Both buttons toggle. Pressing one again takes that restraint off.
You and the selected player each receive a message confirming the new state.
Handcuffs put their weapons away and block weapons and holdable items.
They can still move, use Force powers and sit, kneel or lie down.
Leaving a seated pose returns them to the bound standing pose.
A blindfold covers their view apart from a gap above and below. The two restraints can be used together.
Releasing the player
Select the same player and press HANDCUFF or BLINDFOLD again. Each restraint is separate, so remove both if you applied both.
Taking off handcuffs leaves the player seated if they chose to sit down.
Restraints you put on somebody else are locked. They cannot remove them with their own off command unless they also have restraint permissions. Anyone with those permissions can release them.
If you are unsure whether a restraint is on, use the explicit console off form below.
Things to note
- World NPCs have their own controls. Change an NPC's look and behaviour covers their handcuffs. An NPC cannot be blindfolded.

Open the console with the ~ key.

Restrain yourself
There is no self-restraint picker on the Character menu. Use on or off without a player name.
Applying either restraint to yourself needs no staff permissions:
