Play a cinematic

A cinematic is drawn over the whole screen.

You need director mode.

In the menus: ESC → Direct → Scene → CINEMATIC

Play to everyone

The panel browses the game's video folder. A row in square brackets is a folder, and selecting a file fills the Path: box.

1. Select a video, or type its path into Path:.
2. Leave All players ticked.
3. Select PLAY.

A server-wide cinematic is remembered while it plays. Someone joining part-way through starts that video from the beginning.

The video covers the world and HUD, but it does not freeze viewers or block their controls. They can move or act without seeing what they are doing.

Play a private vision to one player

1. Untick All players, which reveals the Target: row.
2. Step through the names with < and >.
3. Choose the video and select PLAY.

Only that player sees it, and nobody joining later does.

End a cinematic

STOP ends it for everyone at once, whether it went to the whole server or to one person.

Prefer the console?

A bare name works too. /playcinematic ja01 is resolved as video/ja01.roq.

The player argument takes a character id, a name or part of one, or a connected slot number. all and -1 can be used for everyone.
