Draw a light zone

A light zone is a box that overrides the scene light inside it.

Zones draw no edge, use no entity slot, and 8 is the most a map can hold.

You need director mode.

In the menus: ESC → Direct → Scene → LIGHTING

Draw a zone

Walk to the middle of the room first. The box is anchored where you are standing, not at your crosshair.

Select DRAW ZONE.

You land in the in-world mode with 13 dials.

The 6 faces of the box, a yaw angle, then Dim, Red, Green, Blue, Floor and Blend.

Grow the faces out to the walls and stamp it with MOUSE1.

+++ MOUSE1 place zone | SHIFT+M1 move box here | WHEEL adjust | TAB param | R undo | M2 exit +++

Blend is how many units the change fades in over.

Change or delete a zone

Each row in the list carries an id, a size and a light. Select a row first, then:

  • EDIT IN WORLD puts you back in the same 13 dials, seeded from that zone
  • REMOVE deletes it.

CLEAR ZONES takes no selection and deletes every zone, leaving the map's overall lighting alone.

Zones are saved with the scene. Loading a scene replaces the whole zone list.
