Hide a point of interest on an NPC

A point of interest is a secret behind a gate you choose. Only a player who satisfies that gate can read it.

In the menus: ESC → Design → NPCs → select an NPC → FYI / POI

Place a point of interest covers markers that stand in the world instead.

The PUBLIC FYI band at the top saves or clears information anybody can inspect. The POI controls below it hide clues behind Force Sense or a skill.

Add a clue to an NPC

POIs lists what the NPC already carries, so #1: diplomacy L2 is a Diplomacy clue with a message at level 2.

To add one:

  1. Select ADD POI.
  2. Select FORCE SENSE or a skill tab.
  3. Fill in any of Level 0 to Level 3. Each level takes 256 characters. Level 0 needs no training.
  4. Select SAVE.

Academia also reveals Artisan, First Aid, Tech and Mechanics clues, up to level 2.

What a player sees

A * in the gate's colour appears beside the NPC's name, only while a qualifying player is aiming at it. They read the clue by running /inspect from within 200 units, and every clue they qualify for comes back at once.

Remove a clue

Select a POI row to edit its levels. DELETE beside a row takes that clue off. WIPE ALL takes every one of them, with no confirmation.

Clues are session-only, and they share one pool with every other marker on the map.

Change or remove a point of interest covers that pool.

Prefer the console?

Every form is a field of /npc edit. Leave the id out to act on the NPC under your crosshair. The menu and console offer levels 0 to 3. Level 0 needs no training.

A Force gate takes - in place of the skill name, and everything after the level is the text.

One clue can say different things to different readers: Diplomacy 2 gets the signet, Diplomacy 3 the forgery.

/npc edit <id> poi list numbers the clues, poi remove <n> is DELETE and poi none is WIPE ALL.
