Find and remove an NPC

The roster lists living NPCs and retained bodies, with controls for the NPC you select.

In the menus: ESC → Design → NPCs

Read the roster

#4 Liplin (npc) R2 sit ~C ~F ~R ~G
#7 npc (npc)
  • #4 is the id every verb and every command takes
  • Liplin is the display name, falling back to the targetname, then to the type
  • (npc) is the NPC type it was spawned from
  • R2 means it is travelling route 2, and sit is the emote it is holding

The marks after the name describe its current state:

MarkMeaning
~CChatter is running
~FHas an FYI
~RRuns its route
~GBelongs to a group
~KCloaked
~HHologram
~XFiring at a fixed spot
~TFiring at a tracked target
~PTurns to face nearby players
~LActive AI character
~ASaber attack order
~MVehicle rider
~SSYNC NPC group

Pick one NPC out of a crowd

Aim at an NPC before you open the panel and StoryForce selects its row for you.

If you aim at nothing, the previous selection stays put. You can also select a row yourself.

For 5 seconds StoryForce marks the selected NPC in the world for you: a box around the body, a pulsing column above it, and #4 Liplin floating over its head. Nobody else sees it.

The verb buttons

SPAWN NPC... and PLOT ROUTE... sit above the list and need no selection. The 12 below it act on the NPC you selected.

On a server with AI characters switched off, LLM is not drawn.

Remove an NPC

Retained bodies appear as Dead: on the roster. Aim at a body and press Use to clear it.

REMOVE takes the selected NPC off the map. It unspawns: no death, no corpse.

REMOVE ALL asks first. YES frees every live NPC on the map, the map's own included.

Prefer the console?

/npc kill has no button anywhere in the menus. The NPC dies properly rather than vanishing: the death animation plays and the body stays where it fell.
