NPCs
"Happy Lifeday, faceless customer. Happy lifeday to you."
— Flangth-2-go Employer #465,126
The other characters in a scene: the guard on the door, the barman, the crowd.
I want to…
- find an NPC and take it off the map - read the roster, pick one body out of a crowd, and clear one or all of them
- spawn an NPC - pick a type, a body and a size, then drop a new character where you are aiming
- name an NPC - give it a display name so it can speak, and a note anyone can read
- spawn a vehicle - put a swoop, speeder or ship on the map, and learn what a vehicle cannot be given
- seat NPCs in vehicles - board drivers and passengers, move the vehicle and dismount them
- move an NPC into place - place it in the world, or move it to a placemark, coordinates or your position
- send an NPC walking a route - draw a numbered path, choose how it repeats, and put the cast on it
- move NPCs in formation - arrange a group around one leader and let it follow the route together
- set an NPC's look and behaviour - hold a pose, hand out a weapon, make a hologram or cloak it, and choose a walk style
- stage NPC combat - choose a target, use guns or sabers, and control the damage
- make an NPC speak - say one line, repeat ambient chatter, or speak when somebody approaches
- speak as my own NPC - give a walk-on a name and a shortcode, then voice them from the chat line without spawning anything
- hide a clue on an NPC - attach information only the players you choose can read
- cast an NPC as an AI character - let an outside service answer for it, and set the scene every AI character shares
- save a persona an NPC can keep - keep a cast character between maps and load it back onto a standing NPC
- talk to an AI character - speak to one, work out which NPCs they are, and know what leaves the server when you type
