Force and skills
"The Force is basically very advanced magnetism..."
— Joh Ryogahn Holopod Episode #21319: The Force
Force powers and skills draw on one XP pool, and both are bought behind the Character button on the ESC bar.
XP comes from character creation, member awards and placed pickups.
Fighting, finishing a scene and time on the server give no automatic XP.
I want to…
- check my XP and level - what the total means, where it came from, and what spending it cannot undo
- plan a character build - set Force and skill ranks against an XP total and read what they cost
- raise a Force power - buy, lower and apply ranks, and read what each pip on the screen is telling you
- know what a Force power rank does - every rank of all 18 powers, and where three of them change job part-way up
- mark allies and enemies - choose who your powers help and target, then list or clear your marks
- set a Mind Trick disguise - the model, name and size a Mind Trick victim sees instead of your own
- use Force Wander - leave your meditating body with Sense 5, fly as a spirit and return
- learn a skill - check XP prices and prerequisites, then buy and apply ranks
- know what each skill rank does - compare abilities, bonuses and which POI clues each rank reveals
- choose how my skills behave - the tick boxes that turn a skill's automatic part on or off for your own game
- climb walls and ledges - catch a ledge, move along it, pull up or jump away from a wall
- choose a martial arts style - pick which unarmed style your character fights in once you own one
- use my Tech skills - lock and unlock doors at your character's rank, and scan nearby comlink calls
- recover and help a downed player - shorten your recovery with First Aid and use rank 2 to help someone up
- disarm a mine or detpack - use Artisan 2 to make a placed device safe and recover it
