Play a raw animation

Pose your character with an animation name or an exact frame number.

These are entered through the console, and your model must carry the animation you ask for.

Play an animation by its name

/emote <name|frame> [once|hold|loop]

Type an animation name where you would type an emote name:

/emote BOTH_GUARD_IDLE1

Face, torso and leg animations are accepted too, though they can look odd when used as a whole-body pose.

Hold a single frame

An argument made only of digits freezes your model on that exact frame:

/emote 21747

The frame must belong to an animation in your model's loaded set. A name or number that works on one model can fail on another.

Choose how the animation plays

/emote BOTH_TALK4 loop
/emote BOTH_TALK4:loop
  • once runs the animation through once, then ends the emote.
  • hold keeps the animation active until you break out. A non-looping animation freezes on its last frame.
  • loop repeats it.

Raw animation names default to hold. An animation built to loop can keep moving even in hold mode.

A frame number is always held. Asking for once or loop prints a reminder and still holds that single frame.

Things to note

  • Martial-arts style animations are closed off by default. This covers raw names and frames inside those animations. The server admin can enable sf_meleestylesasemotes to allows martial-arts style animations to be used as player emotes.
