Build a community character

Add a character to the shared pool any member can play, and keep the list tidy.

Clerical admins have the pool permissions under the shipped settings.

A server admin can assign list and create, edit, and delete separately.

In the menus: ESC → Character → Manage → COMMUNITY → CREATE CHARACTER

Managing the Pool

Below the members' SELECT button, the COMMUNITY tab carries a second rail headed POOL (STAFF).

Every button except CREATE CHARACTER and REFRESH LIST acts on a character you have highlighted in the list.

Play a community character covers the same tab from a player's side.

Creating a community character

  1. Select COMMUNITY, then CREATE CHARACTER.
  2. Fill in ID and Name.
  3. Select CREATE.

Those two are the only required fields. Everything else can be changed later.

  • ID is what members select this character by. It must be 3 to 10 letters, numbers, underscores or hyphens, with no spaces, and unique across the whole server. Reserved IDs are refused. Create a character sets out the rules.
  • Name is the display name. No colour codes, and it seeds the listed name on the record.
  • SELECT MODEL opens the shared models and skins browser that place a model uses, and writes your pick into the read-only Model row.
  • Pronouns, Species, Homeworld, Aquatic, Surface offset, Scale and Hearing are the same identity fields a player character carries. Scale takes 1 to 1,023, hearing 1 to 5, and surface offset 0 to 100.
  • Other languages takes a comma-separated lowercase list. Basic is added for you.
  • XP is the budget this character spends, gear up a community character covers what it buys.

The pool holds at most 150 community characters.

Editing one you already have

Highlight a character and select EDIT CHARACTER.

The same screen opens retitled, with the ID as a read-only value and the button reading APPLY.

Deleting a community character

Highlight the character and select DELETE CHARACTER, then confirm. That is the only confirmation you get, and it is the same one whether or not somebody is playing that character.
