Stepping out of character
Wrap the line in (( )) on the chat line. /ooc and a space does the same, from the chat line or
the console.
The opening (( is what StoryForce matches on, so closing it yourself is optional.
An out-of-character line goes to everyone at full strength, wherever they are standing.
The team chat key
Your team chat key does not go where its name suggests. StoryForce takes the first of these that applies:
- On a Director Notes channel, it posts there while T key posts here is on.
- With Merge Team Chat on, it sends ordinary speech, so every chat shortcode works from it.
Turn T key posts here off to keep the channel and return the key to ordinary chat.
Director Notes covers that switch, its console form
/directornotes tkey 0, and posting with /dn or /dc.
Change how chat looks and reaches you holds Merge Team Chat.
Sending a line to one person
/tell <player> <message> sends a private line to the person you name, with a copy to you.
Give a slot number, character ID, whole name or a unique part of a name. /tell brax I'm here
finds Brax Tilla if nobody else matches. Ambiguous names are refused. Quote a name with a space in it.
The recipient reads your name in square brackets and the message in magenta, at full strength at any distance.
