Read and save a scene's chat

Verified

The console holds received chat after it leaves the chat box.

You can read back through it and save the text to a file on your computer.

There is no menu for saving chat.

Read earlier lines

With the console open:

  • Page Up or mouse wheel up scrolls back
  • Page Down or mouse wheel down scrolls forward
  • Ctrl while scrolling moves five times as far
  • Ctrl+End returns to the newest line

Use set up the console to change its height, background and opacity.

Copy a few lines

Drag over lines in the console, then press Ctrl+C. On Mac, press Command+C.

Save the text

Type this into the console:

It saves the text still held in the console, including lines above and below the part you are looking at.

Find the file

For a normal writable installation, the example saves to GameData/StoryForce/scene.txt. Open it with any text editor.

If the game uses a different save folder, the path is <fs_homepath>/<fs_game>/scene.txt.
