Switch and manage characters
The Manage screen switches character, sets your login default, edits records and deletes. You need to be logged in.
ESC → Character → Manage
Rows on MY CHARACTERS read as character id, then name.
* marks the character you are playing and (D) marks your login default.
Selected, under the legend, names the row every button on the right acts on.
Switch character
Select the character, then SELECT, bottom left.
Enter the scene with ESC → JOIN → Join, covered on join a server.
Set a login default
Select the character, then SET AS DEFAULT, under PLAY.
CLEAR DEFAULT, directly beneath, removes it.
Edit a character's record
Select the character, then CHARACTER SETTINGS, under EDIT.
The popup holds 2 fields:
- Type takes MAIN, FORMER or SUPPORTING
- Alive takes ALIVE or DECEASED
An account holds one main, so setting MAIN drops the previous main to former.
Guests cannot open this popup.
Former members can open it and mark a living character DECEASED, but cannot change Type unless they have staff permission.
The server can also make Type a staff-only setting. The popup explains the restriction when you select it.
Selecting DECEASED asks for confirmation and changes the character record. It does not stop you playing that character.
Restoring it to ALIVE uses the staff /comadmin alive command.
Delete a character
Delete acts on the highlighted row, not on the character you are playing. Check Selected first.
- Select the character.
- Select DELETE CHARACTER, below the red line.
- Select YES.
That removes the whole record. Nothing brings it back, and the id stays permanently reserved.
Deletion refuses if another session is playing the character.
A mentor also cannot be deleted while they still have students. Staff must reassign them first.
Things to note
- QUICK EXTRA sits beside SELECT. It ignores the highlighted row. See play a quick extra.
- NEW CHARACTER, under CREATE, opens the wizard. Create a character walks through it.
- COMMUNITY, the second tab, holds the server's shared pool. See play a community character.
Prefer the console?
/character covers most of this screen.
/character set chartype and /character set alive act on the character you are playing, never on a highlighted row.
