Turn on the trace overlays

The trace overlays draw boxes, numbers and labels over everything the map normally leaves invisible.

Only you see them.

In the menus: ESC → Design → Trace

Switch an overlay on

Select a box under 1. OVERLAYS to switch that overlay on, and again to switch it off.

ALL ON and ALL OFF cover all 10 in one press.

Closing the panel leaves every overlay running.

What each overlay draws

RowWhat it draws
Modelsred boxes on placed models, labelled with their id and short roster name
Effectspurple boxes on placed particle effects, labelled with their id and short roster name
Lightswhite boxes on placed lights, labelled with their id and short roster name
Doors + Triggersdoor and trigger bounds with a floating number over each: green is unlocked, red is a full lock, amber is a rank lock
Soundsblue boxes on placed sound emitters, labelled with their id and short roster name
Spawnpointsup to the nearest 28 spawn points, with a line showing which way each faces: cyan is one you placed, gold is the map's own
Trigger Boxestrigger boxes with their id and mode: magenta is a live walk-in box, gold is a live +use box, grey is unbound, dormant or disarmed
POIsevery point of interest within 4,096 units, with its id, required level and normal range. Your rank and line of sight do not limit this overlay
Weather Zonesyellow bounds on weather shelter zones
Placemarksorange crosses with gold arrows on every saved placemark, showing where it is and which way it faces

A rank-locked door prints the rank after its number, and a rank-gated spawn point prints the rank instead of its id.

A missing box usually means a budget, not a missing entity. trace only shows the nearest 5 entities. Move closer to see the intended entities trace.

Prefer the console?

Every mode is a toggle and answers with the state it moved to.

Modes are models, lights, effects, sounds, spawnpoints, triggers, weather, pois and boxes. triggers means doors and world triggers. boxes means trigger boxes, and also answers to cameras.

/trace on and /trace off cover them all. Neither touches Placemarks, which has no console verb. Use the panel's ALL ON or ALL OFF for all 10.
