Save and stamp a prop

A prop is a saved group recorded against its own pivot, so the same set piece stamps into any map at any angle.

In the menus: ESC → Design → Props

Save a group as a prop

Build the group first. Move things together as a group covers it.

On the 2. SAVE FROM GROUP band:

  1. Select the group in the list on the left.
  2. Type a name into Name:. Letters, numbers and underscore only, and no dash.
  3. Type a short line into About:. This one takes spaces.
  4. Choose Save to server (shared) or Save to this PC.
  5. Select SAVE PROP.

A prop holds up to 32 pieces.

Stamp a prop into the world

Pick a library from the combo at the top: On this PC, Server - mine or Server - all. Find and SEARCH narrow the list by name, owner or description.

Select a row, then PLACE IN WORLD.

A translucent copy of the whole prop follows your crosshair.

MOUSE1 stamps and the mode stays up. R takes a whole stamp back in one press.

The dials are Yaw, X, Y, Z, Pitch, Roll and Grid. Hold SHIFT while turning the wheel for smaller changes on numeric dials. Grid snapping includes height.

The New group tick decides what you get. Ticked, which is how it ships, the pieces land as one group named after the prop. Unticked, they land as loose entities.

Delete a prop

DELETE appears only for a server prop on your own account, and asks first with Delete 'dock_stack'? Anyone using it will lose it.

A prop on your own machine has no button. Delete the file yourself from the props folder.
