Remap a texture
A remap swaps one texture for another server-wide, and lasts until you restore it or the map changes.
In the menus: ESC → Design → Remap
Choose the texture to replace
Select PICK FROM WORLD. The name of whatever surface is under your crosshair is read out live as you look around. MOUSE1 copies it into Old, and MOUSE2 comes back to the panel.
The list on the left is the alternative: every texture the current map uses, grouped into folders.
Choose the replacement
The Source combo decides where the right-hand column's choices come from:
- Textures + Shaders browses safe replacement textures and named shaders together
- Map offers the current map's own textures as one flat list
- Model offers textures used by the selected placed model
With Textures + Shaders selected, type into Find and select SEARCH to search every folder under textures/.
Select [end search] to return to browsing.
To see the replacements as pictures first, use the remap library.
Choose [Invisible] to hide a surface with gfx/storyforce/invisible.
In Use lists active remap choices beside Favourites and Current.
Preview and apply
Face the wall you are changing, then tick Preview. The swap applies on your machine only, and the panel collapses to a strip along the bottom so you can see the wall.
Select APPLY to send it to everyone. The panel shows the server's result.
Supported replacement materials also change footsteps.
Put a texture back
Select ACTIVE REMAPS, which lists every swap live on the server. Select a row and RESTORE, or RESTORE ALL for the lot.
The panel shows whether the server restored the texture.
Things to note
- The server holds 48 remaps at once. Restoring one frees its slot.
- Hiding a baked model's shader uses a remap slot. Hiding a static map model from Manage does not. Either can leave collision behind.
Prefer the console?
remap <oldShader> <newShader>
remap list
remap restore <id|oldShader>
remap restore all
Use the short texture names shown by the picker or /whatis. Set the replacement to invisible to hide a surface.
The number is the remap's own id, and /remap restore takes it or either form of the name.
