Place a point of interest

Leave a clue that reveals more to players with a higher skill or Force Sense rank.

In the menus: ESC → Design → POI

Fill in the form

Type: offers 3 gates:

  • Regular is open to everyone and carries one message
  • Force Sense reads against the reader's Force Sense
  • Skill reveals a Skill: combo holding Diplomacy, Artisan, First Aid, Academia, Tech, Scout and Mechanics

Each message takes up to 256 characters.

Level 0: is what anyone who can see the marker reads. Level 1: to Level 3: replace it for a reader who has that much of the gate.

The lowest level you fill in decides who sees the marker at all. The named skill or Academia must reach that detection level.

Academia also reveals Artisan, First Aid, Tech and Mechanics clues, up to level 2.

Single use (only accessible once): deletes the marker the first time anybody reads it. Reveal by aiming from a distance: lets a player read it by aiming squarely at it from anywhere in its range.

Place the marker

Select PLACE IN WORLD. A ghost ! follows your crosshair, with 2 rings on the floor: the outer is the distance it will be visible from, the inner is where it starts to fade.

Three things differ from the shared placement mode:

  • MOUSE1 stamps one marker and ends the mode, reopening the wizard with your text still in it
  • the WHEEL sets Range, and there is nothing else to dial
  • X drops the marker at your own feet instead of at the crosshair

Range runs from 140 to 1,000 units here, starting at 400.

What a player sees

A qualifying player sees a floating ! in the gate's colour, checked against the map's walls so it never shows through geometry.

They read it with /inspect from within 100 horizontal units, and get the highest level they have earned. The first 128 vertical units do not count. Height beyond that counts at half distance, so a marker directly overhead can be read up to 328 units above.

Every other director is told who read which marker, and at what level.

To find or remove a marker attached to a model, open Design → Manage and set Show to POIs.
