Save a placemark

A placemark names a spot so you can come back to it, and stands in for coordinates anywhere a command asks for a position.

In the menus: ESC → Design → Placemarks

Save a mark

Stand where you want the mark, face the way you want it to face, type a name into Placemark Name: and select SAVE PLACEMARK.

A mark records your feet and your yaw.

Names take letters, numbers and underscore, up to 31 characters. Saving under an existing name moves that mark rather than making a second one.

Work with a saved mark

SAVED MARKS lists every mark on the map with its position and facing. Select a row, and the 4 fields at the bottom re-seed from it. Three buttons act on it:

  • MOVE HERE re-anchors the mark to where you are standing, keeping its facing
  • REMOVE deletes it, with no confirmation
  • TELEPORT ME takes you to it

SEND PLAYER TO MARK sends whoever is highlighted in CONNECTED PLAYERS. Teleport to a placemark covers both travel buttons.

Under EDIT SELECTED MARK, fill in Pitch:, Yaw: and Roll: and select SET ANGLES. All 3 are needed. Anything that stands upright uses the yaw alone.

New Name: and RENAME rename the highlighted mark. CLEAR ALL removes every mark behind a confirmation.

Use a mark instead of coordinates

Write at <mark> in place of 3 numbers:

/add model models/map_objects/mp/crate_bespin.md3 at dock
/npc spawn stormtrooper at dock

It works in /add, /npc spawn, /npc spawnvehicle and /camera. at last means the mark you saved most recently. A name that does not exist is refused rather than falling back to your crosshair.

/placemark's own help says at also works in /poi. It does not.

Prefer the console?

placemark <name> [pitch yaw roll]
placemark angles <name> <pitch> <yaw> <roll>
placemark move <name>
placemark rename <old> <new>
placemark remove <name>
placemark clear

pm, telemark and tm are accepted aliases for placemark.
