Place a model
In the menus: ESC → Design → Models
Find a model
Browse the whole models tree on the left.
Selecting a file loads it into the preview.
To see them all at once, with their sizes, use the model library.
Type into Find and select SEARCH to sweep every folder, pk3 archives included. Select
[end search] to go back to browsing.
In Use lists models registered on the current map, including placed models. It sits beside Favourites and Current.
Picking a .glm reveals an Emote: field and a PICK button. The preview loops your choice and
so does the placed model.
Place it in the world
Select PLACE IN WORLD. The menus close and a translucent ghost follows your crosshair.
- MOUSE1 stamps a copy, and the mode stays up
- the mouse wheel adjusts whichever dial is active, TAB moves to the next
- hold SHIFT while turning the wheel for smaller changes on numeric dials that support it
- X swaps the cursor between your crosshair and your own feet
- R takes back the last thing you placed
- MOUSE2 leaves the mode and reopens the panel with your pick still in it
The strip along the bottom carries the key list and every dial's value.
The dials
TAB walks them in this order:
- Yaw turns the model, 5 degrees a notch
- X, Y and Z offset it from the point under your cursor, 8 units a notch
- Pitch and Roll turn it on the other two axes, 5 degrees a notch
- Scale runs from 1 to 400 per cent, the notch growing with it
- BBox sets the collision box to
none,autoormanual - Box W, Box D and Box H size a manual box, 4 units a notch, to 512
- Grid snaps the ghost in all three axes to 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 or 128 units, or is
off
BBox and the box dials appear only for an .md3 whose own bounds could be read. Grid belongs
to the workspace, so it carries across to the other placement panels.
