Place a light
In the menus: ESC → Design → Lights
Light the scene
Select PLACE IN WORLD. A real light follows your crosshair in the colour, brightness and flicker that will be placed, starting as a warm white at 300.
MOUSE1 stamps, TAB changes what the wheel dials, and MOUSE2 comes back to the panel. Place a model teaches the mode in full.
The dials
TAB walks them in this order:
- X, Y and Z offset the light from the point under your cursor, 8 units a notch
- Intensity is brightness and reach together, 20 a notch
- Red, Green and Blue mix the colour, 5 a notch, each 0 to 255
- Style is
steady, firelightorpulse - Speed is how long one flicker or pulse cycle takes, 0.25 to 15 seconds
- Grid snaps the point to 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 or 128 units, or is
off
Hold SHIFT while turning the wheel for smaller changes on numeric dials that support it. Grid snapping includes height.
Speed is hidden while Style is steady.
firelight is an irregular flicker that reads as a flame, and pulse is an even swell.
Take light away
Wheel it below its smallest positive value and it crosses straight to the smallest negative one, then runs on to -1,020. Below zero it is a darkness: the same colour and the same reach, removing that much light instead of adding it.
Things to note
- The map holds 64 lights, but only 24 light anything at once. Spread a set out rather than crowding one room.
- A light can be switched off without losing it.
/edit 4 offzeroes it while it keeps its id, colour and brightness.
