Push a full-screen overlay
An overlay is a coloured wash over the whole screen, for everybody or for one person. Y
In the menus: ESC → Design → Overlay
Choose who sees it
All players is ticked when the panel opens, and covers anyone who joins afterwards.
Untick it for a Target: row that steps through everyone connected.
A targeted overlay is keyed to the character rather than the connection, so it survives a reconnect.
Choose the effect
< and > beside Filter: step through the 15 filters StoryForce ships:
- looks and dims:
warm,cool,night,sepia,holocam,grain,vignette,dark - alerts:
redalarm,bluealert - weather and vision:
sandstorm,nightvision - injury:
bloodpulse,faint - physical:
camerashake, which shakes the view and paints nothing
The field stays editable, so you can type the path of a shader of your own.
Intensity runs from 10 to 200 in steps of 10, where 100 is the look as designed.
A higher value deepens most looks. It speeds redalarm and bluealert, shakes harder on
camerashake, and deepens and speeds bloodpulse.
An Alarm sound tick appears under the slider on redalarm and bluealert only. Tick it to sound the siren in time with the flash.
Preview and push it
Preview puts the filter on your own screen and nothing else, and comes off when you close the panel.
Select APPLY to push it for real. The server answers in the console, naming the filter, who got it and the id it was given.
Take an overlay away
REMOVE ALL asks you to confirm, then clears every overlay on the server. The panel offers no way
to remove one on its own: find its id in the roster and
use REMOVE there, or run /remove overlay <id>.
A trigger cue can also take an overlay off when a player enters a box. Choose Take one off (stop) in its overlay action.

-1 and all both mean everyone. Naming one person takes part of their display name or their
character id, so /add overlay versegrenko redalarm 100 1 reaches Verse Grenko and sounds the
klaxon on them.
/list overlays prints every overlay with its id:
Four properties change in place, all silently:
/edit <id> value <10-200>
/edit <id> filter <name|shaderpath>
/edit <id> target <name|charID|-1>
/edit <id> sound <1|0>
/remove overlay <id> takes one away.
/remove overlays needs no confirm word and asks nothing. It clears every overlay for everybody the moment you press return, and so does a bare /remove overlay with no id.
