Dress a character who is not here

The Attach screen with one box ticked dresses a character who is offline.

Dress a player or NPC covers the kinds, the browsers, the bones and the editor.

In the menus: ESC → Design → Attach → prep absent character

Find the character

Tick prep absent character. The target stepper is replaced by a list of every member account's main character, and band 3 becomes 3. PREPPED FOR THIS CHARACTER.

Select a row to dress them. For anybody else, type into or find and select LOOK UP.

Nothing can be placed until a lookup has matched exactly one character.

Place what they will wear

Fill in Kind, BROWSE and Bone, then select PLACE IN WORLD. The in-world editor works exactly as it does on a live target.

A prepped attachment starts hidden. Nobody sees it until you tick its row, so loading a scene file does not dress the whole cast unannounced.

The preview uses the character's saved model and size.

Select PICK for a different build.

Things to note

  • A prepped costume is filed against the character, not the account.
  • Nothing is kept until the scene is saved. A scene file carries prepped attachments.

Prefer the console?

Use char: and a name or character id in place of a target. Every other argument matches dress a player or NPC.

/list bolts char <name|id> is what LOOK UP sends, and it counts what is already waiting for them. /list bolts prep lists every prepped attachment on the server.

/edit bolt and /remove bolt both take a prep keyword before the id, and it is what keeps them off the live pool.

show with no value toggles, which is what the row checkbox does. /remove bolt prep all clears every prepped attachment and leaves live ones alone.
