Building the world
Everything that puts something into a map, changes it or clears it again.
Most tools need community admin or above.
Director mode is separate: map preparation and Water require it, and many other world controls become directors-only while someone is directing.
Your server admin can change the permission settings.
I want to…
- find the building tools - open the Design menu, read what each row leads to and what it needs from you
- move around while I build - fly through walls, go invisible and stop blocking people
- show markers and boundaries in the world - see doors, spawn points, shelters and everything you have placed
- place a model - find a model, preview it and stamp it into the world at the size and angle you want
- find a model to place - every placeable model shown as itself, with the command that places it
- place an effect - fire, smoke, sparks and steam, looping or one-shot
- find an effect to place - every effect path, most of them playing as themselves, with the path to copy
- place a sound - a hum, a drip or a crowd, playing from one spot
- light a scene - coloured light where you want it, and darkness where you do not
- place background weapon fire - place shooters, choose who they aim at, and control their damage and firing pattern
- browse placed entities - use the map's entity roster to find something and get yourself to it
- move and change a placed thing - shift, turn, resize and retarget anything you have put down
- remove something I placed - take one thing out, clear a whole type at once, or undo a placement
- move things together as a group - bind a set of placed things into one you can move at once
- save and stamp a prop - keep a set piece you built and use it again on any map
- dress a player or NPC - hang a model, effect, light or sound off somebody else
- dress a character who is not here - prepare a costume, then load the scene with that character present
- clear the map for a scene - strip a map back to a bare stage, or move everyone to another one
- retexture the map - swap any texture for another one, for everybody
- find a replacement texture - every texture you can swap in, drawn as itself, with the path to copy
- place spawn points - decide where people arrive, and who may arrive there
- lock doors and triggers - hold a door shut, or open it only to a rank
- add weather - rain, snow, sand, fog, wind and lightning over the whole map
- flood the map with water - preview a water level and appearance, apply it for everyone, and drain it again
- change gravity and tilt the world - float, roll the view and restore normal gravity
- shelter a room from the weather - stop the rain at a doorway, or start it where a roof is not real
- turn off the storm flash - stop lightning flashing on your own screen, whatever the weather is doing
- push a full-screen overlay - tint everyone's screen, or one person's
- save a placemark - name a spot so you can come back to it
- teleport to a placemark - put yourself, or somebody else, exactly where you want them
- place a readable screen - leave text on a datapad or console for players to inspect
- place a point of interest - leave a marker that tells the right people something
- change or remove a point of interest - find a marker's id, retune it or take it away
